Background

I am or have been a member of the Michener and Woodmere Art Museums, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and other art and cultural venues; and reside north of Philadelphia, PA in Elkins Park with my wife, Kathryn. We have two children. I retired in July 2013 from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ after a thirty-six year career as a professor of organizational behavior and management in the College of Business. Art was always an interest and avocation before and during this career, and has become a prime focus since.

I have taken ceramics classes at the Abington Art Center (Elkins Park, PA) and Doylestown PA’s Moravian Pottery & Tile Works, painting workshops and studio classes at the Woodmere Art Museum; and photography and clay monoprint workshops, the latter led by Mitch Lyons, a pioneer and leading practitioner in this medium.

Photography

I have been a photographer for many years. In my photographs and in many locations I have attempted to capture the beauty, inspirational qualities, and majesty of the natural environment. In my work I strive to capture viewer attention and interest, and prompt reflection. My work includes landscapes, flora and fauna, ancient and contemporary elements of the built environment, and observations of contemporary culture. Humor, abstraction, and ambiguity are present in some of my photographs, as well.

Exhibition Record

One of my paintings, Promontory, was selected for the juried show at the Abington Art Center in 2015.  Another, Bar Harbor, was selected for its juried 2021 Summer Show.

My photographs, some 2’ by 3’, are on permanent display at Rider’s College of Business, in an installation I created titled, Preserving the Natural Environment, Placed among the photographs are large, mounted quotations on the importance of good environmental stewardship.
